Senior Program Associate

Thato has a decade of experience strengthening institutions using a racial and gender equity framework. She has dedicated her career to improve the lives of those who are vulnerable and marginalized by laws, policies, and inadequate services. Thato is an experienced consultant, having worked in a wide range of topics, including: stakeholder engagement, racial equity lens, policy planning and analysis, project management, grassroots organizing, organizational development and mixed methods research.

Through her efforts to strengthen public institutions, Thato has worked closely with communities and local governments to improve outcomes for individuals and families impacted by the education and justice systems. The projects she works on at RDA leverage her personal and professional experience as well as highlight her project management and strategic thinking skills.

Prior to RDA, she worked at W. Haywood Burns Institute, where she built community capacity to provide alternatives to justice system involvement and consulted with local jurisdictions across the country to assess and implement policy changes to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in their institutions. She has also worked at Granite State Organizing Project, where she organized youth and families to eliminate racial disparities in the education system.
